Bioidentical Hormone and Testosterone Replacement Therapy

Posted February 16, 2016

Hormonal changes in midlife can lead to the many symptoms of perimenopause and menopause. These changes are different for everyone and can lead to changes in energy, mood, metabolism, libido, cardiovascular and bone health. Along with lifestyle choices, they can affect your health and quality of life as you age.
Because these changes are unique for everyone, we focus on developing personalized recommendations and treatment plans to support the reduction of these symptoms and improve your overall health.
Bio-identical hormones are structurally identical to the natural hormones produced in the body, yielding effective results with fewer side effects. Specific doses and methods of administration are customized based on unique need and regular monitoring. Coupled with our nutrition program based on the New York Times best seller “The Hormone Diet”, bio-identical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) can help balance hormones gently and naturally to help you feel your best.

If you wish to receive BHRT, blood tests are required to ensure the greatest efficacy and safety of your treatment. These tests can be ordered by your family doctor within the last 12 months and sent to our clinic or ordered by our naturopathic doctors at Clear Medicine.

The following tests are required:

For estrogen and progesterone replacement:

(Every 6 months)

Pre menopause: PAP within 3 years and a pelvic ultrasound if there is any unexplained bleeding.

Post menopause: PAP within 3 years, mammogram or breast ultrasound within 2 years, and a pelvic ultrasound if there is any unexplained bleeding.

For thyroid:

free T3
free T4
(Every 3 months the first year and every 6 months thereafter)

Follow-up visits which include prescription refills are every 3 months the first year and every 6 months thereafter. Visit fees are subject to a supplemental $75.00 BHRT fee.
